How Far is Anna Maria Island from Orlando?

Anna Maria Island is just a hop, skip, and jump by plane or by car away from Orlando.

Getting around Florida for a holiday is part of the fun. There is so much to see. When it comes to getting from one place to another, it is important to figure out where you’ll land and how to get from point A to point B quickly and safely. Anna Maria Island is on the Gulf coast. Getting there from Orlando takes some planning but is doable. Find out how to get to the beautiful Anna Maria Island from Orlando and enjoy the sights and sounds of a peaceful beach getaway.

Drive from Orlando

Orlando is home to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Many people fly through here on their way to other places or simply as a gateway to the coasts. When flying in, rental cars are the best way to transport you and your precious cargo to beautiful Anna Maria Island. Located on the southwest coast with the Gulf of Mexico and Intracoastal Waterway nearby, the seven-mile stretch of land is a dream spot for everyone to get away from the busyness and soak in the sun. Anna Maria Island is approximately two hours from Orland, give or take traffic. Hop on US-41 then to I-75 to visit the island paradise.

Fly into Anna Maria Island

Flying from a short distance is also possible from Orland to Anna Maria Island. The best airport will be Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Only half an hour from Anna Maria Island, this simple stop makes it easy to access the best places to stay on the island and lets you drive right down, bypassing traffic on the motorways. The airport is about two hours from Orland. Sarasota Airport is often cheaper than other spots to fly out of but Tampa International Airport is another option for those visiting the Tampa area. Flights will only be approximately 45 minutes to an hour, shaving some driving time but requiring a rental car or other transportation on the other side. Most people like to park at the resort or beach and not leave until their flight home. But others like to get rental cars, scooters, or other transportation which are all available near Anna Maria Island.

Visiting Anna Maria Island

Taking in the magic of Anna Maria Island is incredible. The island’s small size may stop some from considering it but there are many reasons to stick around for the fun. Check out the beaches, and visit Bayfront Park or the Intracoastal waterway. Go on boat and helicopter tours and more. Don’t forget about the restaurants and nightlife. Try the fresh seafood, and hidden coffee shops, and step out onto a pier for dining at night to watch the sunset. Relax and enjoy the gorgeous atmosphere and climate along with people taking in the sights and sounds. Everywhere you turn, there is something to do on the island. Getting there isn’t as hard as some might think and pretty soon you’ll be there living an island dream in paradise.
