Bicycling In Sarasota

Few modes of transportation give people the feeling of pedaling a two wheel bicycle on trails and near the beach. Bike shops Sarasota and the trails along the coast will keep you cruising and feeling fine.

Bicycling

To experience Sarasota, the sun, and all it has to offer, is to bike around with abandon. There are lots of places to ride, to rent a ride, and ride share with friends (think tandem). Find out the scoop on all things bikes and where to take them out for a spin. Lido Beach is a great place to get away on a bike. Ride through Siesta Key and see the stores of Siesta Village as you go. Ride on the roads or along the main roadway. The bike paths on Longboat Key are stunning with Gulf views. The Legacy Trail

The Legacy Trail is one most people who visit Sarasota and want to bike will hear about. Over 12 miles long, the trail runs south of Sarasota down to Venice. There are trailheads, rest stops, and free parking along the way. Check out trailheads at:

Since few restaurants exist on the path, it is best to back lunch and snacks to bring for the ride into Venice.

Sarasota Bike Tours

Bike tours are a great way to see the area for visitors or locals who want something new. Bikes, helmets, and some food are included in tours with Sarasota Bike Tours. Bike through different areas of town including Siesta and Lido beaches (hello views) and much more. Interestingly, they offer electric bike tours. Start at the shop and venture out into Lido Nature Preserve by bike to do a 2 hour kayak experience of the mangrove tunnels by a permitted Sarasota County vendor. Post kayak, enjoy a picnic lunch before going back to the meet point. Tour is 4-5 hours long with boxed lunch included. Cost is $120.

Indoor Cycling

For those who want to stay out of the heat or just want to get in a quick class without going out on the trails, an indoor class might be a great way to get some fitness in without renting bikes and equipment to head out and around Sarasota. With all the wear and tear on bicycles, eventually, they will need repairs. Real Bikes is located near the Legacy Trail. For visitors who need gear and bicycles, finding the right fit can be difficult. This store sells top brands of bicycles and bikewear and organizes cycling events.
