Golfing in Sarasota

Many great golf courses exist across the beautiful state of Florida but of all the courses, those in and around Sarasota bring some of the best golfing anyone can experience. From beautifully manicured courses to scenic views and amazing clubhouses, there are endless possibilities to hit the links when on vacation, visiting family or planning a staycation.

 

Popular Golf Courses On The Suncoast

Tatum Ridge Golf Links

Tatum Ridge is open to the public and close to Fruitville Road. An 18-hole layout with a Scottish feel, the wetlands were designed to be part of the course. This is a course where if someone doesn’t like water hazards, they might find it challenging. In a good way, this will help people perfect their swing and keep it high and dry on the fairway. A full practice grass range is available along with chipping green to get into the swing of things. 

Meadows Country Club

This club features two 18 hole championship courses and a shorter Par 63 18 hole track named ‘The Groves.’ The meadows course is reserved for member play only. The Highland course allows for a trip through Old Florida with mature oaks, pines, and plenty of ponds. Expect to get lots of exercise and work on a challenging surface. They are available for outside play by contacting the golf shop. 

University Park Country Club

Memberships are available for this beautiful 27 hole course. The public may also play here. All three nines are designed by Ron Garl and incorporate natural terrain. The trees are some of the best in Florida with speed and rolls along with wonderful conditions for professional style play. Head golf professional here offers practice range areas at University Park.

TPC Prestancia

This course is a private club located southwest Sarasota near Sarasota Key. With 36 holes of championship golf, this course has been home to many PGA Champions Tours (Senior level). The Stadium Course has been home to many of these events and the Club Course is also challenging for golfers. Practice facilities are world class and challenging for all levels. Check with them about play as it is mostly membership based. 

Pelican Pointe Golf & Country Club

Located in Venice, Florida, there are 27 beautiful holes of public golf to be had at this club. Live oaks line the course along with streams of water, wildlife preserves and wetlands. The course blends with the natural environment and parallel fairways. Wildlife is part of the course but don’t let it deter that swing.

Palms Golf Club in Sarasota

The Sarasota golf course is semi-private but available for most anyone who wants to hit a ball down the course. The course is laid out with one par 5, seven par 4s and par 3s for a fun course to play. Expect to have fun but fair play at this amazing course. 

River Strand Golf and Country Club

This club located in Bradenton offers generous fairways, plenty of water hazards and lots of bunkers that will take a ball into the pit. Several holes have the Manatee River nearby and tidal water areas. Play 9, 18 or 27 holes. Those playing all these holes can rotate them around and mix it up day to day if they want only one course. The goal is to play something challenging but still have fun, which most will at this course. 

Manatee Golf Course

East of Bradenton Beach and Anna Maria Island lies Manatee Golf Course. This course has full practice facilities with new greens to elevate any golfer’s game. Twilight special also available to golf later in the day. Unlimited range balls any time and free Early Bird 9 hole with cart fee. 

Kings Gate Golf Club

Golfers can enjoy a landscaped executive course of 18 holes with a beautiful lake surrounding the course. The course has a practice putting green and lessons. The Lion’s Den restaurant serves food for lunch and dinner. Take a walk on the course and enjoy the sights while hitting balls down the fairway with beautiful scenery all around. 

Pinebrook Ironwood Golf Club

Join the club at Bradenton’s ‘hidden gem’ of a course with narrow fairways and challenging greens. The short course is great for everyone, regardless of skill. The 3,100 yard layout is great for walkers but carts can also be rented. Open to the public.
