Siesta Key itself is located on the Gulf of Mexico near Sarasota. Nearby cities include Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, Fort Myers, and several others. Each will have a distance from Siesta Key that makes it more accessible than others. The closest airport is Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport (SRQ). This location is 11 miles from the city, about a 25 minute drive to Siesta Key. Find a rental car or call for transport from one of the many options. Depending on accommodation choice, there may be shuttles or rides available to Siesta Key.
Directions: to reach the airport from I-75, take exit 213 westbound on University Parkway. The airport is around 6 miles west of the highway. From Sarasota, go North on U.S. 41/Tamiami Trail to University Parkway. Turn right, then merge left and follow the first traffic signal to the entrance to SRQ. Bradenton to Siesta Key requires southbound travel on U.S. 41 to University Parkway to find the airport entrance.
St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport
As a starting point for the closest airport to Siesta Key, St. Petersburg/Clearwater is not a bad way to go. Fly into this airport and use SuperShuttle for larger groups. Dick’s Driver Service is one luxury option or try other ride service companies and car rentals. It will take around an hour and 10 minutes to get to or from Siesta Key.
DIrections: Continue towards I-275 until it ends at I-75, South toward Naples from the airport. Stay on this until 20 minutes before exit #205, then exit right or West onto Clark Road. Follow this for a bit then over a small bridge onto Siesta Key.
Tampa Airport
To drive from Tampa Airport (TPA) to Siesta Key, it’s around 1.5 hours to the beach. One of the furthest airports, it is easiest to head onto George J Bean Inbound Parkway, followed by the Outbound Parkway to ramp for FL-60E. Stay right then follow signs for I-275/Tampa/St. Petersburg and merge onto FL-60E. Exit onto I-275N toward I-4 toward Orlando and exit 9 heads onto I-75S towards Naples. Follow signs towards Bradenton/Siesta Key to take the right exit to accommodation. Travel companies and driver services will be another possible option to arrive safely in Siesta Key or back to the airport.
The closest, most accessible, option is Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ) which is less than 30 minutes from Siesta Key. Outside of rental cars, there are alternative options like rideshare services, limos, private cars, including local buses or shuttles that run from private resorts and accommodations.
