Bradenton Riverwalk

Along the south bank of the Manatee River in downtown Bradenton is a beautiful boardwalk. Meander 1.5 miles while enjoying breathing views of the sunrise or sunset over Tampa Bay. Benches are available to rest and take in the sights and sounds along with a fun park for kids to enjoy. Stop by the interactive splash pad, state-of-the-art skate park, beach volleyball courts, fishing pier, and slip dock for boaters.

Celery Fields

More than 360 acres are home to the Sarasota Audubon Nature Center. Bird watchers will glimpse numerous bird species, which includes unpaved trails and boardwalks for hiking and jogging. People love to enjoy a restful walk along with renting bikes and enjoying views of the city.

Deer Prairie Creek Preserve

Located along the Myakka River with more than 70 miles of hiking trails, visitors to the Deer Prairie Creek Preserve will enjoy walking through the more than 6,000 acres of preserve. Spot tortoises, alligators, river otters, turkeys, and Florida scrub jays among other things. All trail intersections are marked with some available to hikers, bikers, and equestrians. Trails may be flooded during high tide in summer and when heavy rainfall is present. Plan by bringing water, insect repellant, and sturdy shoes for your walk.

Emerson Point Preserve

Enjoy some historical perspective on this trail by visiting the Portavant Temple Mound, southwest Florida’s largest native American temple mound. Emerson Point is located at the tip of Snead Island in western Palmetto, giving visitors shady trails to traverse. Stop by the observation tower to get a breathtaking view of the area.

Myakka River State Park

This nature preserve is located east of Sarasota. Visitors and locals love cycling, renting cabins, tent camping, or just wandering the canopy with views of the area. Oscar Scherer State Park

Enjoy 12 miles of trail through pines and palmettos popular in the area. Oscar Scherer State Park is wheelchair accessible on the Lester Finley Nature Trail near the entrance to Osprey Park. Paddling is available in canoes for those who want more adventure or to try their hand at kayaking.
